Our newspaper, Beijing, April 25th (Reporter Ouyang Jie) - According to statistics from Yiwu Customs, in the first quarter, the total import and export value of Yiwu, Zhejiang, reached 209.37 billion yuan, breaking through the 200 billion yuan mark one month earlier than last year, with a year-on-year increase of 25%, which is 10 percentage points higher than the national import and export growth rate.
Among them, exports amounted to 178.61 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.3%; imports reached 30.76 billion yuan, up 52.2% year on year. Trade was conducted with more than 220 countries and regions. Imports and exports to ASEAN increased by 68.3%, making ASEAN the fastest-growing market among Yiwu's major trading markets. During the same period, imports and exports to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 147.4 billion yuan, an increase of 29.8%; imports and exports to Africa amounted to 41 billion yuan, up 47.3%.
Among the main export commodities, the export of electromechanical products amounted to 67.56 billion yuan, an increase of 23.8%. Exports of auto parts and electric motorcycles increased by 65.1% and 1.2 times respectively.
In terms of imports, consumer goods imports increased by 41.5% year-on-year. Looking at import markets, the zero-tariff policy dividend from countries with which China has established diplomatic relations in Africa drove a significant increase in imports from Africa by 92.6%. ASEAN, as the largest source of imports, saw a 1.3-fold increase.
